Parmela Plein is an Information Technology leader with over 30 years of experience, primarily within the managed behavioral and medical healthcare sectors. Throughout her career, she has spearheaded and structured transformative initiatives that have delivered over $500 million in cost savings across three major organizations. Her work has consistently driven operational efficiencies, enhanced policies and processes, introduced innovative technical solutions, and improved experiences for both members and providers. Parmela is also deeply committed to developing future leaders. She actively participates in mentorship and executive coaching programs, and her former mentees now hold strategic roles at organizations such as Spectrum, Mastercard, Edward Jones, Magellan Behavioral Health, Centene Corporation, Ameren, and Johnson & Johnson. Beyond her professional achievements, Parmela is passionate about animal welfare and community service. She provides hospice care for foster dogs, helps reunite lost pets with their families, and volunteers with several organizations throughout the St. Louis region.

Her experiences with substance abuse—both with loved ones and friends—have inspired her involvement with Hope Creates. As a former professional musician and lifelong advocate for the arts, Parmela brings a unique and heartfelt perspective to the organization’s mission.
